Track 6- "Don't Tell"

|
For those of you who have been keeping up with (RAZOR KiNGS) us. We have been posting songs from our new album "Truth Hurts" with the lyrics and story behind the song. Thanks again to all those who have been following and welcome to all the new people. This is track 6 from the album.

"Don't Tell" features all three of us on vocals. It is an optimistic song about doing things our way. Standing behind what it is that we do and how we do it (obstinate, I know). I think of it as our version of the Bad Brains song "Attitude"
Vashon sent me a demo/instrumental of "Don't Tell" and I instantly wrote the lyrics to it. The melody jumbled around in my head for about a week until the vocals were recorded. We actually recorded this twice. Once in the summer of 08' and then in early 09'. The second version was used for "Truth Hurts"

"Don't Tell"
Don't tell me nothing cause the words you say don't mean a thing to us, no matter time or place. I've got something for you. It's tried and true. Can't sway us off our path or break our concentration. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
(Cause the words you say) And we'll continue on (don't mean a thing to us) in the same direction. Reach for higher.
Out on the street the only place to get away. Echos of heroes and ghettos in poverty. Property bought out to leave a man without a home. Teach the generations self worth and educate them.
Our world awakens, breaks like dawn. These revelations, called by name to perform before our King. The things we've seen, we've barely seen. This nothingness was foretold but beauty we behold. Planting seeds to watch them grow. And we shouldn't have to see our family bleeding.
Don't tell me nothing cause the words you say don't mean a thing to us, no matter time or place. I've got something for you. It's tried and true. Can't sway us off our path or break our concentration. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Punk rock war-lord, Tim Armstrong makes no apologies that the music radiating from his soul at times can be loud & ferocious. His guitar tone alone has become as infamous as his world renown persona. Gretsch is proud to introduce the G5191BK Tim Armstrong Signature Electromatic Hollow Body guitar. A big sound resonates from the parallel tone bars and sound post mounted under the top of the 17" wide body, which has a harp tailpiece and a pair of "Black Top" Filter’Tron™ pickups for maximum sustain and tuning stability. Track 5- "Screws"

|
"Screws"
Put some screws in my brain to hold my thoughts in place. I tried to figure shit out, but it's a fucking waste. I got no concern for what anybody say. The rich are getting richer every fucking day.
And truth is unknown.
Mind your own.
Hate is homegrown.
Penetrates to the bone.
Yeah, I like it loud! Half-naked crowd. By none I'm bound. Expanding the sound.
The skies open just enough to let me through.
Fuck the repetition give me something new.
Hi low, Asshole, Caps and Spoons.
Town to town. Getting down to the wire. Rotten rock is my only desire. But cheap beer and free Love. Acid rain from above.
The skies open just enough to let me through.
Fuck the repetition give me something new.
Hi low, Asshole, Caps and Spoons.
Conscious clear. I'm avoiding cases. I don't remember no names or faces. Oh I eat with my hands. Tell by my walk. I got a hot cock. I'm addicted to Rock and Hip Hop.
The skies open just enough to let me through.
Fuck the repetition give me something new.
Hi low, Asshole, Caps and Spoons.

Track 4- "Buy Your Way"

|
"Buy Your Way"
If you're denied, raise your voice and your eyes. You decide. What's your truth? Believing lies? Noise pollution, the sound of panting breath behind me. The Constitution, a lot more free when you've got money.
Buy your way. Pay them off and shut them up.
While I'm alive you won't discriminate (against) me, change me. Take me or come and make me. It's all the same to them. As long as I'm paying the rent. As long as I'm feeding my kid then ya'll should leave me alone. I've seen the masses without homes and people laughing in their face. I've heard the masses with their groans, casting shadows in my face.
Buy your way. Pay them off and shut them up.
There's never enough of the summer that comes. My collar is blue and my hands are numb. People with money they think that I'm dumb. They eat it up and they leave us the crumbs. Nothing presented that I couldn't learn. You might be given, I'm proud that I earn. The food to eat and wood to burn. Some fine day soon the tide will turn.
Buy your way. Pay them off and shut them up.

Track 3- "Forgive"

|
If you stand in just the right place on Granby street you can see the boarding house, health care center and zoo that I am referring to in "Forgive". When I broke my wrist I did not have insurance but was informed that I would need a cast and was sent to this center. When I got there, they told me they didn't treat injury. I was refused and sent out -- and I experienced, for my first time, what too many American citizens have to. I became angry and overly frustrated with health care policies and basic human struggle, in general. I saw the pain and desperation in the eyes of many so often caused by sheer lack of information. I saw fear and rapacity evolving to more hate and more crime. To anxiety, fabrication. To killing, denial, isolation. This observation brought me full circle once again: to rely solely on faith, that which lays in my heart and is not forgotten, but to also question the answers with stark interest and hope for knowledge.

"Forgive"
I had a friend that's gone away and settled for something less. In a boarding house just down the street, in a town with unlocked doors. A health care center where I was refused and sent out. A zoo outside my window, victims laying in the gutter, fuck it move on. But I find it hard to see past my brothers and sisters struggling, borderline of desperate. Can't escape this madness that floods into the streets. A tap that's running empty while some still thirst for TRUTH it HURTS. But don't lose faith in the things you cannot see because one day all your dreams will reside in present day you see. I know nothings wrong but something just aint right. Jet black hair, black leather jacket, chucks. Away I walk. Don't give a fuck. Your petty thoughts and selfish greed. Deny my people what they need. Clean water, food and opportunity. Someone's watching and waiting. This racist world is surely suffering. Help me get away. I know nothing's wrong but something just aint right. The Lord is not forgotten in my heart. I know nothing's wrong but something just aint right.

Track 2- "Faces"

|
"Faces" is a song reminiscent of past friendships and relationships. How people constantly change over time and sometimes lose touch. I wrote and demoed it in about 10 minutes sitting in a cold, damp apartment I used to live in in Virginia Beach. I originally had a hip hop beat in mind then Vashon had the idea to speed it up, which ended up sounding the best. The lyrics were inspired by the concept of the song "Got a Minute" by Kid Dynamite where the first line is "we used to see each other everyday, now we're lucky if its twice a year." I suppose Faces was written toward the beginning of the album because we had not yet titled it.

Track 1- "Take Mine"

|
Over the next few weeks we will posting tracks from our new album "Truth Hurts" along with the lyrics and story (if one) behind the song. The first track is the anthem "Take Mine". Enjoy.

At the time when I wrote "Take Mine", I was going through a power struggle at my job. I ended up getting Screwed over for a position because new supervisors were filling the positions with their buddies from other company's instead of their current employees. Furthermore, I personally trained some guy who was hired as my boss. So in "Take Mine" I was taking shots at everyone caught in the corporate rat race.
-John-Paul

"Take Mine"
"Hey man why ya late for?" They're coming saying to me. 'Cause I was up all night fucked up and I slept in my jeans. If you got anymore questions, you can refer to the wall. It used to be my backdrop at the cubicle. Mass confusion. Gash, contusion. Chaos, corruption, that's amusing. Shit flows downhill. Shirts of pastel. Knots in ties. You know you wear that noose well. I Can Take Mine. "Hey man why you smoking?" They're coming saying to me. I've been breathing in smoke all day from your factory. Oh! It's gonna take time. But I'm in it for the long haul. RAZOR KiNGS nothings impossible. Mass confusion. Gash, contusion. Chaos, corruption, that's amusing. Shit flows downhill. Shirts of pastel. Knots in ties. You know you wear that noose well. I can Take Mine.
